6 Spoken Word workshops took place at Plymouth College, over the course of two days. (to find out more about the workshops, or The Poetry Point, please leave a comment and we’ll get in touch).
After warming up with some simple creative writing exercises, we looked at how sound (specifically non-musical sound) is used, and often reconstructed from scratch – especially in the case of film making. We discussed basic Foley Techniques, and watched some of the documentary clips made during the post-production period of King Kong, 2005 directed by Peter Jackson.
here are some examples of the ‘writing for broadcast’ recordings – which were the culmination of each workshop session (these particular ones were on the general theme of ‘homework’) :
