As spring wakes up the land, sea and sky, let nature and the journeys made by many creatures inspire you to write a poem or create a picture. Enter our Children’s Competitions to win prizes totaling £500.
Children everywhere aged between 4 and 14 are invited to enter these two free competitions to meet one of the themes of Nature or Journeys, the joint themes of Fowey Festival’s Family Fun Weekend at which your poems and pictures will be celebrated and prizes awarded. Poetry Prizes have been provided by Bookends of Fowey and Art Prizes provided by The Bodmin Decorative and Fine Arts Society, Young Arts.
The competitions are open to anyone aged between 4 and 14 on 20th March 2015, the closing date by which entries should be received. Prizes will be presented and poems and pictures shared at the Family Fun Weekend at Trenython Manor, Nr Fowey on the 9th & 10th May, the first weekend of The Fowey Festival of Words & Music 2015. The best poems may also be read out on local radio and the best pictures displayed at The Webb Street Gallery in Fowey, framed by Atishoo Gallery of Charlestown.
Poems should be 20 lines maximum and may include illustrations or a picture of what inspired them.
Paintings on A4 or in a square format 21 X 21 cm on paper or card may be done with paints, coloured pencils, crayons or as a collage/montage.
Fowey Festival is a must do event with something for everyone, not just book lovers.
