Events from the March Edition of Piccolina

Saturday 31st March                                    

The Indian King Poets/Camelford Poetry Stanza hold  their first 2012 quarterly reading at the Camelford Gallery,  Market Place, Camelford at 2.30 pm. It follows the private              view of the Cornwall Watercolour Society there, so the surroundings will be attractive for the audience visually as well as aurally! Entrance by donation (£2 suggested  minimum) and you are welcome to bring a couple of poems of your own to join in the Open Mic.

Monday 2nd April                                   

Graham Burchell will be reading his poetry and discussing his work at Newlyn Community Centre 2.15 pm – 4.30 pm

This event is organised by Penzance Poetry Stanza.

Graham will read in the first half.  There will be a break for tea and coffee and in the scond half there will be a read around by Stanza members and other members of                                                 the audience.  The cost £2.00 includes tea and coffee.

The Indian King Poets/Camelford Poetry Stanza are                                                 delighted that John Haynes has agreed to run a day long poetry writing workshop at Camelford

(10 am – 4 pm) He won the Costa (formerly the Whitbread) Award for Poetry in 2006 for Letters to Patience, and the Troubadour Poetry Prize in 2007, and                                                 his latest book You (Seren) was shortlisted for the T S Eliot Prize in 2010.

Helen Jagger is Poet in Residence at Pencarrow House near Bodmin again this            year, and is holding Sunday morning poetry writing workshops from 10 am – 12 pm on             Sundays 13 May, 24 June, 23 September.

Place:  Old Chapel, Calstock (an ancient Saxon town onthe banks of the Tamar)

12:30 gathering for Lunch at the Tamar Inn (17thcentury)

2:00 – 400    workshops in the Chapel

4:00 – 5:00        tea break and walkabout in a very  beautiful place

5:00 – 6:45  readings and generous time for open mikers

7:15 informal gathering for poets’ supper at the Tamar Inn

Cost:           £10 for full session    £6 for reading and open  mike only  And a plug, the Chapel is one of the most beautiful and  inspiring places to read.   ANYWHERE his Celebration Event is a tribute to Harry Chambers, who ran Peterloo Poets for so many years
