There will be home-baked bread and oil on arrival followed by a starter of deli-made ham hock terrine, or baked Cornish brie for vegetarians, with spiced red cabbage chutney. The main course will be roast baby pumpkin with a melted Gruyère fondue filling served with roast Cornish vegetables. The meal will be rounded off with a pudding of Christmas tart, made with the deli’s own boozy, quince mincemeat and served with clotted cream.
Gluten free, vegan and dairy free diets can be catered for on request.
Not forgetting the ‘food for the soul’ fare being laid on by caravanserai, including:
Rob Barratt
AKA ‘The Bard of Bodmin’, who describes himself as ‘a slightly mad poet and songwriter’ and has been regaling audiences with rhythmic tales of the awkward and the everyday, like his kareoke love story… ok maybe not that everyday!
Nick Jarvis
Falmouth’s own ‘Voice of the Possible’ who features in the latest edition of Parabola -the ongoing Telltales Publishing project that features new and exciting writing talent from around the region.
Seamas Carey
Is a young composer and songwriter, who has played in bands like The Busketeers, UnderDog, as well as composing entire soundtracks for stage and screen, most recently masterminding the sold out silent film screenings at the Falmouth Royal Polytechnic.
Mac Dunlop
Your host for the evening is known for his ‘Unspoken Words’ storytelling broadcasts, which have gone out over the last three years on The Source FM here in Cornwall, and on London’s Resonance FM.

It’s free entry and there will also be a bar available for those in need of some alcohol fueled courage! So feel free to come spread your words whether it’s through song or poetry.

Telltales at the Rum Bar November 29th

Taking over The Rum Bar, Falmouth on Tuesday 29 November, Telltales will be celebrating the launch of The Parabola Project Issue II: Quickening with an entertaining night of word wizardry, showcasing the rich creative talent featured in the new issue and beyond.

With readings from recently signed author Chelsey Flood, captivating travel writer Chris Brown and satirical performance poet Nick Jarvis on the cards, as well as free Winter Pimms, mince pies and an opportunity to look through the proofs and plates that all fed into the production process,  it promises to be great evening. Not to mention the fact that it’ll be your first chance to get your hands on a copy of The Parabola Project Issue II: Quickening.

For those of you that don’t know, The Parabola Project is an independently published creative writing anthology that showcases creative talent from Cornwall and beyond. Available online in Waterstones Truro and from independent bookshops across Cornwall, it costs £6 – with all profits going back into the production pot for issue III.

So what are you waiting for? Get out your diary and write this in in permanent pen -  “29 November, 7.30pm @ The Rum Bar, Falmouth, celebrating the launch of The Parabola Project and picking up my copy, can’t wait to see it…” or something similar.

Lorna’s debut pamphlet was a Poetry Book Society Pamphlet Choice and her first collection, A GHOST INMY HOUSE, received critical acclaim. She has been called ‘a distinctive and powerful talent whose poetry conjures love, lust and music with naturalistic anecdotal brilliance.’ Of her work Alison Brackenbury said, ‘I have rarely read work with such a compelling emotional rush,’ while Linda France says of the new book: ‘With a tang of Frank O’Hara – ambivalent, allusive, ecstatic – Lorna Thorpe’s new collection toys with death and disappointment but ultimately is on the side of life, love  and the perfect Martini.’ Lorna will read some poems from the book in what promises to be an informal and entertaining evening.Find out more on her website, where there is also a video of her reading a poem from her last book –                                                             www.lornathorpe.com

a poem for national poetry day

Who Came First?

I remember

we met

in the birthing pool

our Genes collided

and welded together

like a virus and its host

I gave you a piece of my mind

You gave me love

And over time

We seriously considered

making

beautiful music together

Yet, after all that

many years later,

we were still left

wondering

who came first?
